State of the Mander Address

Who am I? How would I describe myself?

I guess I'm kinda weird (in a good way), artistic (in my own way) and pretty cool...

I don't try to front or act like I'm someone I'm not. I'm not very sophisticated. I don't know it all. I'm still learning (no matter how old I get). However, at least, I am 100 percent original.

I try to make the best of what I have. I make the best out of what has been given unto me. I make the best out of what I can find/obtain. I make the best out of what I lose. What is meant to be will be. That's basically my attitude.

I'm casual. I'm a casual person in all aspects of the word. I'm easy, I'm casual. Down-to-earth. Of the peeps... however you want to say it. That's a really big aspect of me.

I like to work hard and get immersed in it.

I have a significant other, my hubby Donnie. We've been together for over five years. We got hitched almost a year ago.

I'm inexplicably happy most of the time despite the shtuff that gets occasionally thrown my way.

I'm willful. I'm smart & stubbornly independent.

I like to organize and arrange things. Lists are my friends.

I have intuitive skills in language, mathematics, rhetoric, philosophy, religion & logic.

I’m horrible at spelling, mechanics, physics, engineering, chemistry, electronics and really anything that is visually technical (if that makes sense) rather than intuitive, abstract & intellectually analytical-- though I’m under the delusion (perhaps) that when I put my mind to it I can figure anything out.

Sometimes I procrastinate. Sometimes I just like to veg out.

I get distracted by pointless, long, tedious but somehow all consuming tasks such as writing this bio.

I get lost in my head. Sometimes I can't find my way out. I'm a dreamer, too much so and there is such a thing.

I can be absent-minded. I'm the queen of opening a drawer and leaving it open. I'm notorious for starting a task and forgetting what I'm doing half way through... That is my nature, but I am so aware of this fact that most of the time I actually over-prepare for things. It breaks my heart when I let people down or disappoint them or annoy them or frustrate them. I'm this right-brained, creative, head-in-the-clouds person who is constantly fighting it.

I make lists all of the time and I just go over things in my head a lot. So in the end I can be very anal and very tedious. I would say that in the end I am very reliable and very responsible, because I make such a conscious effort toward that goal.

My interests change, but I'm a pop culture nut. I like to read, watch, listen.. to everything. I'm like Johnny5 from Short Circuit in that I have an insatiable thirst for "input."

I like to make friends and I love people but I NEED my alone time. I go through periods where I must isolate myself in order to regenerate.

I'm a people-pleaser and that can be exhausting after awhile. I love talking and getting to know people, starting conversations and helping people feel good about themselves. I just want everyone to be happy so I try to be all things to everybody sometimes. Even though I'm comfortable around people, it is actually few and far between that I feel comfortable enough to relax and truly, truly be myself around. But I feel like that is how it is for most everybody.

I am patriotic, progressive and idealistic. I believe in civil rights, justice, ethics and moral integrity within the government. I believe society should strive for greatness and the greater good of all.

I believe that God is good & that people are basically good & that there is a purpose to life. And we should all let love rule.

Friends Only Journal!

"Friends Only" means that only certain, specified members of the livejournal community that I have approved of can read most of the content of my journal. However, I quite often post unlocked entries that anybody can read. I do this so I can screen who is reading my journal.

Why did I add you? I added you as a friend because I was surfing LJ (which is fun to me) and found your journal one day. I don't add people all the time but something about your journal stood out to me. I thought it was interesting and I wanted to be able to find it easily and keep up with it and read your "friends only" posts.

However, if I add you and you don't add me back then I take that as a sign that you don't really want me lurking around so I will usually unfriend you. If your journal has tons of friends that aren't "mutual friends" then I might keep you as a friend because obviously you have a lot of lurkers and don't mind.

That said, I check my friends' page only once or twice a week because I have a busy life so please don't mind if I sometimes get behind or seem oblivious to all the goings-ons of your life. LJ is my hobby. I do it for fun and I can't always spend as much time on fun stuff as I'd like.

I like journals that either I relate to or maybe inspire, amuse and/or challenge me.
